Janet Connor Kahler says
I, too, grew up with David on Guilford Avenue, walking to school with him nearly every day. Last summer, we held a homemade carnival in our back yard, just like we when we grew up. It brought back a lot of memories of the fun and chaos of the old neighborhood, with kids melting into each other’s families. And David was always there, quiet and stoic. I always felt a little protective of David, of being the voice to his shyness. But I also relished in his protectivess of me, like a brother, a rock, a constant in my young life. My heart goes out to Angela, Joe, Paul, and (as you’ll always be known to me) Mrs. Rangel.
Seamus Boyce says
Rangel Family: I heard the news today from Paul. Please accept my condolences. I, unfortunately, will be unable to attend the visitation/services. However, I wanted to share that I had fond memories of David including when he used to live with us on Meridian and that he used to take me to Star Wars movies when I was a kid.
Steve Compton says
My heart goes out to the Rangel family. While I probably haven’t seen David since Andy Kane’s passing, we’ve shared a connection since the days at Haverford when we were both pitchers for a darn good championship Padres team. David always credited the coach with bringing out the best in him, but my dad just made it possible for David to shine. We’ll both miss you, David. Love, Steve
Elizabeth Kane says

My God fill you all with His comforting grace and peace now & always. Love, Elizabeth Kane

I heard the news and wondered how can this be possible; it is scarie how fast time flies by… I haven’t seen any of the Rangels in years but in some ways it seems like only yesterday when we were all kids growing up together on Guilford Ave. I look back fondly on those days – so many memories – and in many ways a little piece of my heart is still there on Guilford Ave. To all of David’s family I am so sorry for your loss…
Thoughts and Prayers…

Matt Ranft says
Dear Rangel Family:
The Ranft’s offer our prayers and condolences. We were IHM walkers together for awhile and Haverford and IHM sports buddies. The too few times are paths crossed in the last 20 years I quickly remembered the kindness and gentle grace that always emanated from David and it always seemed like we were 10 years old again just shooting the breeze. I attacked my first pinata in the Rangel backyard!
Brother Joe provided an update every now and then and I knew David would be a dedicated Dad.
The world will miss one of the good guys.
God Bless:
Matt Ranft
